CAER Frequently asked questions
WHAT IS CAER
Community Awareness Emergency Response (CAER) is a messaging and notification system that allows member companies in the Brazoria County Petrochemical Council to inform residents about industrial events in Brazoria County.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM CAER
CAER is a system that provides information to the community from Brazoria County Petrochemical Council (BCPC) member companies about planned events and industrial incidents. Messages offer basic information such as the event location and any recommended actions by Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office and/or municipalities.
HOW CAN I USE CAER?
Visit www.CAERinfo.com for the latest updates and register anytime to receive critical community alerts via text, phone or email.
WHEN SHOULD I ACCESS CAER?
Check www.CAERinfo.com if you see, smell or hear something at a local industrial facility that makes you think there may be an emergency.
HOW WILL CAER CONTACT ME?
CAER uses the contact information and preferences you provide when you register to receive critical community alerts. You will be able to select what kinds of notifications you wish to receive. When you provide your address, alerts can also be targeted to your specific geographic zone, so you’ll only receive alerts relevant to your area.
CodeRed is no longer in use. If you were previously registered with CodeRed, please take a moment to register with the modernized platform so you can receive critical alerts by text, email or phone.
Please note: Any official community action, such as a shelter-in-place or evacuation order, will come directly from local emergency management agencies or the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office.
WHAT DOES SHELTER IN PLACE MEAN?
During some emergency situations, emergency officials may advise you to shelter-in-place. If this happens:
- Go inside a building or vehicle.
- Close all windows and doors.
- Turn off all heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
- Use towels to block all air flow.
- Do not travel or attempt to start your vehicle.
- Wait for guidance from local emergency management professionals.
WHO SPONSORS CAER?

IS THERE A LIVE PERSON TO SPEAK WITH AT CAER?
